About this deal

The opening to Diorella is a combination of citrus and green notes. It smells like Emeraude as it begins with sparkling fresh citrus courtesy of bergamot orange and lemon lime. It's lemony and invigorating, fresh, cool, and delicious. A melon note is there too right from the start. Smells like sweet fruit. A peach begins to emerge as the scent begins to enter into it's second stage and the middle notes.

I wonder if more of the fruity-floral aspects would emerge in warmer weather? I will have to test it in a few months and see. In the meantime, the herbal-mossiness just seems too out of sync with the February chill. It doesn't offer me the cozy richness I look for in winter scents, nor does it provide any sweetness or zest to lift my spirits (on the other hand, I tried Diorissimo yesterday, and she brightened me up immensely!). This stuff does not smell sexy, like Diorama, for example. I think a woman wearing this does not need or want to seduce anybody. She feels free and happy and she is wearing her happiness and freedom. DIORELLA was constructed by the nose who'd in 1966 brought us the men's scent EAU SAUVAGE, and many remark on how similar the two fragrances are. Some say DIORELLA is "EAU SAUVAGE, perfected".Diorella starts out like lemon zest on me, joined by a very subtle fresh mint/ basil note. Very fresh smelling at first. I wondered how anyone could think those notes smelled dirty. The scent doesn't improve much on drydown. It mellows out just a bit, but not enough to redeem itself.

It was made in accordance with the aldehyde trend, but it was too late, and it was only released in 1976. I was used to smelling men's colognes until Gladys sprayed this on my hand. I was confused - never smelled anything like it. Needless to say I was really disappointed when she told me it was a women's fragrance! Many a person may feel rather repulsed by chypre scents, too harsh, too harsh, too rough, too this, too that. This is understandable, as our scent sensations and preferences are as different as the big world of scents and not everyone likes it particularly harsh But I am of the opinion that with the green chypre scents of the classic design a look or a sniff is worthwhile. As it develops, the powdery floral heart emerges. Rose and sweet jasmine are initially detectable, given a nice spicy edge by the carnation. The herbal notes remain, alongside the melon note, muted at this stage, but keeping the fruity component alive. Soft woody notes ground it, and pave the way to the chypre base.eta a month later: I don't think I have EVER loved a perfume this much. It's almost scary. It's like getting blindsided by
