About this deal

Hollywood Tactics: Tactics have apparently regressed to nineteenth century levels. Dmitri lampshades this, stating that there was a time when the rules of warfare were changed to be more humane and how pointless that was. Psychic Powers: Psychics of various forms exist. A number of the Devil's Martyrs, a cult devoted to Grigori Rasputin, are capable of reading minds. Captain Luther Emmanuel is also capable of reading minds, in addition to being a practitioner of telekinesis. The Tsar also has a precog in his employ until she betrays him in favour of Nikolai. This is the weekly Prog 2011 in the regular numbering scheme, published in December 2016, not the annual Prog 2011 published in December 2010

Aleksandr and Aleksandra are so in love with each other that their main abilities are to merge into a single being. Tsarina Eugenia (Jena) Vladimirovna Makarova [4] – the tsar's eldest daughter and Dante's on again-off again love interest. She has a love-hate relationship with Dante, both attracted to him and disgusted with his flings with other women. A capable commander, she plays a major role in her father's empire, and eventually, she grows disenchanted with the empire to throw in with Dante's rebellion. The Mafiya: The Russian aristocracy by and large trace their descent to the Mafiya clans that arose from the ashes of the Soviet Union. Elements of their code have thus endured as part of courtly tradition. In particular, Vladimir is the major character who came from a Mafiya clan compared to more royal-descent houses like Romanovs. Enemy Civil War: One breaks out around halfway through the series, between House Romanov note led by Dmitri Romanov, Lady Jocasta Romanov, and most of their offspring and House Makarov note led by the Tsar, Princess Jena, Count Prye, the War Council (early war, until their coup attempt), and the mysterious "Lord Protector". It ends badly for House Romanov.

Nikolai Dante 11: Sympathy for the Devil

Helmets Are Hardly Heroic: When Nikolai is (briefly) commissioned in the Raven Corps, he disdains wearing their signature helmet. One of the ravens sent with him and Jena to investigate a crashed ship calls him out on this.

By that point she seemed to have deserted the Imperial military, and joined the rebellion led by the powerful Romanov house. She wore what seemed to be a Romanoff uniform, and worked directly with house patriarch Dmitri Romanov. In "The Memoirs Of Nikolai Dante", the Tsar is shown with a list of Nikolai's crimes, which describe him as a bandit, a brawler, a conman, a duellist, a thief and a gigolo. Nastasia is a Narcissist who habitually kills anyone less admiring of her own looks than she is. She also kills an ex-boyfriend because he broke up with her before she could finish with him herself. Immortal requires ingestion of human or vampire blood, with an unrevealed frequency. She’ll normally drink from “senior” vampires, presumably meaning she has to feed less often.Fuoco", "Diavolo" and "Bojemoi" are generally exclamations of surprise, though "Bojemoi" gets phased out after "The Courtship of Jena Makarov". Captain Luther Emmanuel – former agent of Britannia Intelligence and member of the Cadre Infernale. A powerful psionic, he uses his abilities both to interrogate prisoners and swindle casinos. After the war, he supports Lulu Romanov's terror campaign before being captured and killed by the Lord Protector. [5] After the Last Revolution, many of the old Soviet states and nations lay in ruins. But from the ashes the Mafiya Clans rose, remaking themselves as aristocratic dynasties. Vladimir the Conqueror emerged as leader of the most powerful house, the Makarovs, and appointed himself Tsar of All the Russias. This brave new world mixes aliens and anachronisms, with bio-weapons and shapeshifters as common as Imperial concubines and noble duels. Nothing is ever as it seems. Dmitri waits for several years inside the body of Arkady before making his move on the Tsar and does so when Nikolai has done all the legwork.

Jena Makarov is a skilled swordswoman, having trained under a Master Swordsman note the above-mentioned Caius Zacharovich in fact in her youth. She's probably better with a sword than Nikolai, but since he's a Combat Pragmatist with a cyberoganic battle computer any time they have squared off, he's got an edge. Still, Jena gets a fearsome reputation on the battlefield both during the Tsar Wars and later during the revolution against her own father. Loyal Phlebotinum: Nikolai's Hunstman 5000 rifle is encoded to his geneprint, meaning that it can only be used by him or a close relative. Anyone else who tries to use it gets a bullet to the face. Viktor tends to keep to himself, living in a loft at the top of the Winter Palace and doesn't speak until the final episode. He's utterly broken when Dmitri kills his peasant wife.Princess Marie-Anne – King Henry's scheming daughter, constantly trying to overthrow her father, her plans are always being thwarted by Nikolai Dante. Hollywood Acid: Nastasia Romanov's weapons crest allows her to produce this. She can dissolve a man in seconds with no ill effects to herself, apart from having to reapply her makeup.

Modesty Blaise (1979) from “Green Cobra” by John M. Burns Burns’ artwork for Diana comic, adapting Wuthering Heights and Great Expectations, from 1964/1965. Nikolai Dante began in 1997. Evidently, the world was much different then. We see this in Dante’s characterisation as a womaniser. This presents a double-edged sword for anyone attempting to adapt Dante. Tone down Dante and be accused of getting his character wrong. Perhaps a way around this would be for Dante to discover that he has a daughter. Who is an action girl and the new leader of Katarina Dante’s pirate crew. This would be an interesting perspective flip; as Dante’s mother is the pirate queen in the comics. Text article. Second part titled "Tsars in his Eyes". Third part titled "The New Avengers" STARRING Field Promotion: Nikolai promotes Elena Kurakin to Sergeant when she helps him subdue the Grozny gang.
