EA often release their football title on the last Friday of September – therefore, expect FIFA 21 on Friday, 25 September 2020. This will be the same for the Switch version. FIFA 20 on Switch Okay, enough's enough. Ever since EA first brought the FIFA series to the Switch with FIFA 18, Nintendo fans have been given a lesser version of the game seen on other systems. At first, we gave EA the benefit of the doubt and put it down to the challenges of porting a game to a less powerful system with a user base who hadn't seen a new FIFA game for half a decade. There was very little change from FIFA 19. The Volta game mode never made its way to the Switch, nor was there any update to Ultimate Team. It’s something which handheld FIFA players, whether it be PSP, PS Vita or Nintendo Switch, have been crying out for for years, a decent Ultimate Team mode.

It’s not perfect. As much as we appreciate EA’s decision to finally make the jump to Frostbite, and as much as it makes the game far more detailed than the previous FIFA games on Switch, the one benefit of the previous engine was that its primitive nature meant it could run at 60fps without a hitch.
